The Big Day Draws Near
Dear Friend,
As my wife, Cheri, and I get ready to have
our third baby - thoughts of
the first two arrivals come to mind.
We had two amazing 'deliveries.'
Now we are fortunate to have one fabulous Doc.
This is the guy I talk about in
Triple Your Endurance.
He works all kinds of overtime- running all
over the hospital to do surgeries and deliveries, has a house
full of kids and still finds time and energy to train for and run
several marathons a year!
He's a former athlete who played quarterback for the
University of Toledo, (booo!)
the Archrival of my former college - BGSU.
When I first met the guy I got down in a three
point stance (half jokin)
like I was going to take him down.
He didn't laugh. My wife didn't either.
Record scratch.
But we ended up hitting it off well and eventually he involved me
in all our girls' births. These were gifts that I'll treasure always.
With our first baby, Doctor 'B' let me take Sophia
once most of the baby was delivered.
and then I cut the cord like most proud pops do.
The second one was a real trip. Doc had me
put scrubs on and help him
actually deliver the baby. I got in
there like a quarterback taking a snap from center.
He told me how and where to place my hands. After just a few
pushes from my wife Cheri, I pulled out little Georgia's head.
Then I gently tugged the shoulders through and all the sudden
it was like a mad rush of slippery arms and legs
busting through the line of scrimmage.
I carefully delivered the rest of the
slippery little “GA” with Doc close by.
The emotions of joy and happiness stemming
from the miracle of life ALL come rushing back.
Life is good.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as
we head into the hospital Monday
Best,

Vince Palko
