Silence the Critics
We don't recruit second class citizens
Dear Friend,
It seemed the Akron Beacon Journal always interviewed
my pops the week before my college team came to town
to play the Akron Zips.
My home town paper asked him about my youth
and if he knew I'd be successful playing football.
Dad said, 'There was always something a little bit
different about Vinnie. He was never afraid to go after
his dream and work for it. Out of the blue you see
him down on the ground repping countless pushups and
situps. At any time of the day. Before
gym workouts and after. It didn;t matter to him- when or where.'
Pops, I haven't changed a bit.
Then there was the other article the Beacon published leading up to the game.
This was the fun one.
Akron's coach at the time, Jerry Faust, was a former
infamous high school coach
for Cincinnati Moeller. He was at best a sub par coach
at the collegiate level.
The Beacon asked him why he let stellar players like myself
and one other from Bowling Green's team escape from the Akron area.
Jerry was quoted saying, 'We don't recruit second class citizens.'
Huh.
Now if there was ever a time when the mirror should have been held up
after a comment like that– it was then.
Man, we placed that article in the back of our minds and all week
used it as fuel.
The other Akron native and I went into town and
reeked havic on the boys. We tore into them like lions
ripping open the flesh of meek antelopes.
Now you will always have the critics out there.
Those that say you stink. You can't write to save your life.
You can't tell a story if your life depended.
They make life enjoyable and interesting.
The best thing to do is to use this to fire you towards your goal.
Most of the time these thoughts come from within. And when this happens
you are on a train to nowhere fast. You have to obliterate them as
quickly as they surface.
One way to do this is to go for nightly walks and visualize a Universal Energy
that supports you. One that loves you. One that wants you to win.
You can only do this if you have a solid foundation. A rock if you will.
This is one of the reasons why I created The Smiling Universe.
I give instruction on how to build your self-esteem foundation.
Going for walks and thinking about this Smiling Universal
Energy that surrounds you and supports you
will obliterate any ill feeling about yourself is less than 8 minutes.
You can learn more about the visualization and exercise
routine I follow by clicking this link below.
There are a few copies of this life changing limited edition print still
available.
Also available to Second Class citizens.
Best,

Vince Palko
