Through Endurance We Conquer – Part I
Dear Friend,
I came across a Mega Motivational story that I thought you
should hear. You're going to love it.
Back in 1914, the great explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and
27 other hearty souls set out to conquer the last great prize
in the history of exploration: to cross the Antarctic continent
on foot (by dogsled).
Of course they had to actually get to Antartcica first
and the vessel for such a grand expedition had to be
something very special. Shackleton spared no expense to
find the perfect ship.
He did.
A 144 foot long 300 ton wooden barquentine built of two
and one half feet thick planks of oak and Norwegian fir.
It was then sheathed in greenheart, a wood so tough and
durable that it could not be worked or cut by conventional
means.
Every detail down to the last nail of her construction was
meticulously planned by a Master Norwegian Shipbuilder
to ensure maximum strength for the incredible voyage that
was to follow.
The original name of this craft was “Polaris.” While the
North Star is certainly a worthy name for a ship undertaking
such an expedition, this ship needed something more…
Thus this mighty ship was christened “Endurance.”
in honor of Shackleton’s family motto:
“Fortitudine Vincimus”
(In Latin, Pronounced For-ti-tood-in-ay win-key-moos)
This translates to “Through Endurance We Conquer”
Shackleton never did reach the Antarctic but what he did
end up accomplishing became one of the most amazing
tales of “Endurance” ever achieved.
I will fill you in on what happened to Shackleton and his
expedition in a later email. It is one heck of a story so you
do not want to miss that.
When I read something like this, it always reminds me of
the importance of Endurance and Toughness in all we do.
You can be Successful without a lot of things but
Toughness and Endurance are not some of them.
Back when I played football I wasn’t the strongest
guy on the field, and I sure wasn’t the fastest but I
always prided myself on being in the best shape I
could be.
There were times when the guy across from me
was a much better player but come the
fourth quarter he was on vapors and I was still
going strong. This gave me a tremendous edge
no matter who we played.
If you want to build the kind of Endurance that
conquers, here is something that I put together
that you should know about at Triple Your Endurance.
You can thank me later.
Endure Like a Stallion,

Vince Palko
