Horse with Blinders – Focus
My goal for the Success Newsletters is to keep ‘em short and sweet, be respectful of your time and ultimately give you visual inspiration. That means I will share with you the sketches that I have used to help my mind focus on success in the past and present.
Some of these illustrations will be done quickly (on post it paper) and some more well refined. So without further a-do. Here goes.
In regards to going after your goal, I’ve heard Matt mention on may occasions, “You have to be a horse with blinders on!”
How true.
That is the theme of today’s email. Whether you are going after a fitness/health goal or be it a financial one. It’s all the same– you need to stay focused. That is exactly what the Goal Trackers can do for your Combat Conditioning. What a perfect metaphor than a horse with blinders.
That is why in this photo below, I have sketched an image of a horse with blinders on. It has been helpful just to have this Power Post-It (as I like to call them) on my computer monitor.

1. Next to the image of the horse is an area to write in the top three things that distract you. "A body in motion tends to stay in motion" is another familiar phrase for us Furey Faithful. You need to be aware of the distractions in your life holding you back. For example, it can be friends and family that are holding you back. It can be your own limiting beliefs that stand in your way. Whatever the distraction might be write it down and get the obstacles out of your path of success.
Don’t focus on them just get them out of your system to free you.
2. When you are done with that exercise rip the page off on the dotted line and tuck that part somewhere you won’t see it everyday. Just note it and get rid of it. This would fall into the category of the more personal Power Post-Its.
3. Display the horse image proudly as a visual memory tag to stay focused.
4. Or get a folder to place the printouts of these images in and call it your Success folder. For me, having the horse image alone top of mind during the day helps improve my focus by 50%.
Much Success To You,
Vince Palko
