"Shrinkage" in an Icy Shower...
By Vince Palko
Thanks for all the responses to the “Allergy” email sent out...

Funny how writing about something silly
like shrinkage grabs the attention of the masses.
I'll ride it though and say you ain't seen nutten til you've done
a 1/2 naked snow dive (see below).
But first, here's a random sampling (Uncensored) from the mailbag...

I'm gonna give that a shot. We have allergies,
whether they are related to pets, pollen or mold on
the house, it's worth a shot. About the shrinkage, if
it get's much smaller it will invert. Say no to
speedos! LOL
VP's response.... You're gonna love it Ron. You'll be
able to save some cash too if your a coffee drinker.. Cause
you won't be needin' dhat no mo!

Vinnie- How long does this cold shower need to be?
Do you start with a cold shower and then turn on the
hot water to finish the job? I don't think shaving your legs
in a cold shower would be very successful.
I'm willing to give it a shot though.
VP's response........................................
Great question Kristi. The answer is– as long as you can
stand it. That could be as much as 5 seconds. When I first
did it I could barely stand a second but I slowly built up to
several minutes. I'd put an arm into the cold stream of the
water and then a leg. Before I knew it I could stand
underneath for as long as I wanted. You'll notice your
breathing increase and get deeper. This is normal and
a great way to work your deep breathing into your morning routine.
Stay with it until your body gets used to the cold.
This breathing will help with the initial sting too.
Yes, you can start with the cold then go hot, or start warm
then cold. Both have advantages. In college the team doctors
called this process “contrasting.“ More about that in another email.
When your body is used to the cold showers, it's time to take it
outside. You won't get the full effect watching this movie in the summer
so I'll send it out again as winter nears.

(Special Note... This email was sent to me in HUGE letters about 18 point
type to give you the full effect of the response. The small type
just doesn’t do it justice. haha)
I will not take any cold showers!
I shall stick to taking my horse pills and call it a day!!!!!!!!
VP's response........................................
Thanks for your thoughts Emilia. Just to get the last word
in (because I can) you may want to reconsider.
When it comes to healing the body, consider this….
Q: What does every major pro sport’s training room do for injuries?
First, a story from college when I busted up my knee while playing in a
game (the only time I ever was injured besides the 11 broken noses).
Then I’ll answer the “Q”.
We were up at Camp Randall Stadium playing
Wisconsin back in '92. In one series their team ran a
toss sweep to my right. I pursued
the ball carrier and just as I was about to hit the running back– a little
pissant receiver put his tiny helmet into my right kneecap and chopped
me down. Didn't even see it coming– cause it was the
biggest cheap shots ever thrown on me.
It strained my ligaments in my knee, though I played
another quarter and eventually picked off a pass. By the
end of the game, my knee had swelled to the sized of a
small pumpkin. The next day I couldn't walk.
I made up my mind not to miss next week's game. I told
myself I would make every “training session” which consisted
of an ice whirlpool (4 a day plus extra ice on it at home)
until I healed my leg.
I lived with ice that next week. Whirlpool sessions took
priority over everything 'cept classes.
I was amazed at the end of the week how much my
knee felt like it’s ole self. That mind you, in a matter
of 6 days! The knee was about 90% and I played that next
game versus East Carolina.
So how was I able to play in every game over 11 years
span with no injuries (besides Wisconsin)?
Answer: hydrotherapy.
But Vinnie, 'I don't have any injuries!'
If hydrotherapy expedites the healing process twenty fold
guess what it does for your overall health– even when you are not hurt.
IT BRINGS YOUR BODY BACK TO LIFE.
Your nerves start firing again, your mind clears, and
you feel instantly revitalized. Also, it's a great way to
build mental strength. When you allow your body to
naturally take deep breaths while doing it, you'll be higher than a kite.
You could experience ALL this for FREE or keep eating HORSE pills. Neeaaayyyhhh!

Shrinkage– you need help brotha!!!!!!!!!!! The daily writings are great
and I really enjoy them. I've been focusing more on breathing when I run
and it's helping with my lower calf / achilles area pain that I normally get
about half way through the run. Keep on rockin.
VP's response........................................
Awesome Mark. Good to hear the breathing is
helping but be sure to listen to your body. You need to
know when to back off the running too. A good change up from running are
Hindu Squats. They'll exhaust your
legs better than a run- in shorter time. If you want detailed instruction
on the proper form of these plus get two other staples exercises, go to
http://www.successvisuals.com/products/royal_court.html
Your legs will be smokin’ after just a few sets without the pounding on the joints.
Also remember: If you have a huge presentation to
make or want to meet the boss to discuss your raise,
you'll be better prepared by simply leaving your comfort
zone in the moring with an cold shower.
Coffee drinkers have been known to kick the
habit once they routinely iced themselves down each morning.
Success is yours,

Vince Palko
