When in Rome, DON'T Do As the Romans
By Vince Palko
Warning: Read at your own risk (especially if you're about to eat)
I lived in Germany for three years playing American FOotball.
Whilst there I developed many good German friends.
I always seemed to keep an arms length and here's why.
One cat was named Ole Meine. He was a big strong looking
stereotypical German. He was a great guy but something
about him was a little bit off. As we say in Ohio one can short of a six pack.
One day before a game I was getting taped up and in
the same room Ole stood with what looked to be cup of
Gatorade. Something looked off cause it his cup was steaming.
I asked what he was drinking.
“Vhy its my urine, Wincent..” Ole said. (In my best German accent)
----Insert Record Scratch----
“WHAT the @#$$%^&*!? You got to be kidding me.
What are you drinking that for?” I shouted.
“The fluid is filled with minerals and nutrients and I'm
putting it back into my body for an energy boost– better
than any energy drink!” Ole responded.
“Yea but it's all waste from your body...”
Then I quickly backed off because apparently Ole had
done this before every game. He had that glazed look in his eye.
Nobody was home. Though he was a stand out player on the field,
by no means am I suggesting to try this.
Reminds me of another conversation regarding what to put inot your body.
I was implementing a health challenge called FitBoom in a
business last year and I spoke about nuking soda out of your
diet. One lady stand up and say, “I just saw a study out saying
there are benefits to drinking soda pop.”
I calmly replied, “Look, would you put apple cider in your
gas tank? Your body isn't made up of soda or Gatorade (for that matter).
It's made up of 70% water. What comes out (sweat) needs to be
replenished. You need to put in what comes out. If you
want a smooth running machine drink a gallon or more a day.”
Since I have been soda free for the last 3 years and coffee
free for the last 2, I have not been to the doctor for any health
problems. Pretty amazing coming from a guy who grew up
having sinus problems,
colds, flu's at least three- four times a year every year.
And please don't write me to say you “Did as the German”!
Get your nutrients and minerals from fresh veggies and fruits. If you need more
take your supplements.
Get the good stuff in ya!
Conceive, Believe, Achieve!

Ps. Leave the colorless water FRUIT drinks for
special occasions. THIS IS NOT WATER. Speaking
of 'special occasions' we have one coming up on Thursday.
You won't want to miss that email.
