Who Sits on your board of directors?

"I'm calling this meeting to order."

"Please take your seats. I'm excited to get cracking today and if we could go around the room and introduce yourself, that would be great," I command.

"It's Doug H!"

"Hi, my name is Jim A,"

"Hello, Thomas E is my name."

"I'm Matt F"

"Hello my name is Dan K,"

"Greetings, my name is Peter R"

"Gary B at your service,"

"Michelangelo B is here"

"Walt D in the place to be,"

"My name is Bruce S,"

"Napolean H is my name"

"Okay, thanks everyone for being here," I say.

"Today I want to get the meeting kicked off quickly and give you the challenge I am working through..."

"The challenge I face is this __________(fill in the blank)__________."

"Any ideas on how we can approach this and develop a solution?" I ask.

Then I sit back in my chair and mentally go around the room to hear each one of my mentor's approach to the challenge or obstacle.

That's today's tip: create a roundtable of experts to access (in your mind) when you face challenges. Hold high court with the people you've read about in books, people from history you admire, past coaches, current mentor's and bring them all into one room. Listen to the confluence of ideas flowing your way.

When I begin an illustration, I imagine how an old time master would create it. If I'm soul searching, my mind, body, and spirit experts instruct and share their thoughts. If I want to develop a bad (meaning good) marketing phrase, I call on those at my table to help me create a knock-out message.

You too can create a table with anyone in the world as mentors and coaches. Takes a bit of imagination but well worth the time spent.

Get busy recruiting your team and hold a meeting of the minds.
