Celebrate the "Hero" Within

Here's an interesting letter that got me thinking about the Hero that resides in ALL of us. Enjoy!

Dear Vince..

I will forward the email I sent Matt a couple weeks ago about
my son Tyler Lamb and his goal trackers taped up in our garage..
Matt must get toooo many emails, was hoping he'd respond with
my son's accomplishment!

Hey Matt..

My 13 year son Tyler Lamb from Maple Valley,Washington
is a wrestler in 8th grade now and does your Hindu workout!

We just received the Hand Stand DVD workout too and man he
says thats really tough! Up to 46 seconds again the wall now
and barely sqeakin out 2 baby hand stand pushups, working
him up to 3 minutes and then we'll concentrate on more reps..

Last night he amazed me as I counted for him with his Hindu
squats, we've got your wall Goal Trackers and his 12 week goal is 500
Hindu Squats and 250 Hindu pushps.. He was at 200 squats at
week 3 and last night hit his 500 goal!!
He wanted to push himself
to see how close he could get..Man I'm 52 and barely sqeaked out
30... Ha..

He'd love to have an acknowledgment from you he can pin up
on his wrestling medal board in his room!! Maybe a signed picture
he can put you next to his Dan Gable poster!!

Thanks Matt!!

Dr. V's response...........

Excellent work Tyler. For you, I've created a personalized Success Visual celebrating the fact you achieved your goal! Nice work bud. See illustration at the top for my impression of how your garage looks. Enjoy!

As far as the autographed photo- I'm sure Matt get's hundreds of requests for that a day.

So it might be the perfect time to talk to your son about "Celebrating the Hero Within."

If you notice in the above "illo" I put your son in the garage "Getting after it". I also put you looking on- counting. Next to him on the wall I made a place to Celebrate the Hero within.

This is the place to honor Tyler with trophies, his photos, and other accomplishments.

Don't get me wrong, I had childhood idols and they were extremely important to me. However, I've realized (along the way) that inside me were the exact qualities the person I looked up to exhibited -otherwise I never would have noticed them. Those qualities were reflecting what was inside the entire time and all I needed to do was recognize & stroke them to build the same success as my childhood icon.

What I've also realized is no matter if someone "rides the pine" or plays on the starting squad- everyone has something that makes them unique, which is a great reason to celebrate.

On the Hero theme, I used to have a business that created personilized movie posters. People sent us their photos and I'd created one-of-a-kind personal memorabilia for them. Though I no longer have the business, the fundemental aspect of the HERO lives on. Below are two examples of what I've created in the past.

"Goal Achieved" Poster for Completing
My Marathon Goal

Championship Poster Created for a
High School State Title

You can take this idea and make one for yourself. So grab your digital camera and put your personal computer to use. Create what I used to call a Starring-U poster that can be displayed in your office, family room, and garage. These images are a great way to fill your mind with the right positive feelings of the past in order to achieve success today.

Talk to your son/daugter about the Hero that resides within them. As they grow, this will be one of the most powerful power-tools they'll have in their toolbelt-paying huge dividends.

And no matter what acknowledgement he/she receives or doesn't receive on the "outside," the Hero will grow stronger everday.

Conceive, Believe, Achieve,

Ps. As a special bonus today - (I've been slacking on my daily e-mails) I've included a Wrestling National Champ visual. This is something you can pin up in your garage in your shrine.

How to use this Success Visual

1) Visualize winning match after match while you train

2) Track the amount of Pins and Takedowns (on the right)

3) Achieve Success
