Vince Palko's Bio
St. Vincent - St. Mary Hall of Famer, Vince Palko
For those of you who have never heard of me, let me be so bold as to tell you a little about myself. I am a native of Akron, Ohio and in early 2003, Lebron James' high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary, inducted me into its Hall of Fame. What an honor to be amongst legends.
My love for athletics began at a young age when my brother and I played countless hours of football in the backyard with our neighbors.
When I got to grade school, football seemed easy compared to the backyard. We won our first championship the grade school had ever seen and the “Championships” seemed to follow me with every team I joined. The number of championship games we won totaled seven, including one at each level: grade school, high school, college, and the German Bundesliga (League).
At BGSU I was nominated for the Dick Butkus Award and was a two-time team captain. Also, I was named “Defensive Player of the Year” in 1993-1994. Four of my most notable championships are the '91 California Raisin Bowl, the '92 Las Vegas Bowl, and the '96-'97 German Bowl.
How One Picture Changed My life Forever
In high school I drew a picture of my goal: play NCAA Division I football at OSU. Although I never attended OSU, instead I had a successful career at Bowling Green State University. It all started with the vision I sketched for myself on paper.
Like an architect creating blue prints for construction workers, anything I illustrate can be built in my mind and turned into reality. I have been fascinated with this working hypothesis ever since I created my first goal visual in 1987. Combining my artistic skills and athleticism made for an outstanding football career, future sports and business endeavors.
The combination of these two skills has given me the extra edge in life to achieve my goals.
